M&S Festive Fairytale

Like every Christmas, M&S has not failed to impress with their preparation for the festive season! The long awaited Christmas commercial stars Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who instantly caught my attention as my girl crush before noticing that she is accompanied by David Gandy and Helena Bonham Carter. What a mighty fine trio!

The advert is based on the stories of fairytales such as the Wizard of Oz featuring a magical set, gifts and props that are all of course, from M&S. Rosie fits the role of princess protagonists from the fairytales so well that it almost takes away from the fact that this is a commercial rather than an epic M&S and Disney collaboration.

As well as that, the fantasy concept of the advert is the perfect way to create that warm and fuzzy Christmasy feeling, perhaps best felt as kids watching these fairytales for real. After watching it on TV, I found myself watching it over again on YouTube just to get that feeling all over again!

As a Media & Cultural studies student I should probably be highlighting how bad it is that we give into adverts like these so easily, in fact, I am currently writing an essay on the subject. But truth be told, I have no shame in admitting that I thoroughly enjoy watching this advert and have to give it to M&S for advertising their brand so creatively without making it obvious that their intention is to make us buy their products!

If you're in need of some Christmas spirit, be sure to watch this advert :)
